Hi Bob,
No the mineral oil does not ever completely cure, but if you are using it with wax the wax seals it over and I have not had any problems with oily rings being left behind.
Thanks and happy to hear you enjoy the videos.

Thank you Carl. That is a slick idea using the pin chuck. I’ve been curious for a while about the wax/oil sanding since I started watching your videos. Thanks for explaining it. It looks like it works well for you, but I have read on forums that the mineral oil finish will never completely cure and can leave an oily ring under the item if left for a long time. I can’t imagine you still using this system if you have had the same experience. Love your videos. Please keep them coming.

k ty is it at most lumber yards?
(like menards?)
Hi the pin chuck I made. I don’t know if you can buy them. I have a video up on how to make one. Love to see the ring you made.
Thanks,
Carl
I make calls with it for a piece 1 1/2″
x 1 1/2″ x 12″ it is about $12.00.
nice job on that…funny that I turned my first rings yesterday with a completely different method which required a lot of waste from wood…kind of like a jam chucking it back on to the wood I parted it off from… but it worked out alright. I was wondering where I get these pin chucks from…. thanks for you video…and any info you are able to provide.
is that wood expensive?
