Tips for working with wood?

Anyone familiar with working with wood? I’m looking for tips for woodworking, specifically Hawaiian Curly Koa wood. General tips and tips on preparing plain wood for use in crafts would be much appreciated.

sounds like you need to learn everything…get some books and dvd’s and some woodworking magazines…theres way to much to go into here in a few paragraphs…i would like to see what curly koa looks like tho…i make jewelry boxes out of foreign wood…

I would suggest checking to see if there is a local woodworking club. Most places have one. There is so much to learn and that is a good way to get started. Most woodworkers love to share what they know and can be very helpful in getting a person started.

Here is one of several sites with a list of clubs.
