HVLP oil based stain and polyurethane?

has anybody ever applied oil based stain and/or polyurethane to a woodworking project using a high volume low pressure sprayer? How did it work? Any tips?

oil base stain, yes but not polyu, it will gum up the gun and you will never get it all out,


Stain is best applied wiped on, you can control the hue desired. Polyurethane never tried it, again I use a brush to control the coat density I would think spraying would create runs which you would ultimaely have to brush smooth.
