How do we win our upcoming Cub Scout pinewood derby race?

My son and I are making a car for the cub scout pinewood derby race. I don’t have any woodworking equipment but am fairly handy. I’m asking for some tips on how to make our car the fastest of the bunch.

Some how get lead into the front end of the car.

The tricks for the fastest car are pretty well known.

1. Make sure the wheels are square and true. This is the tricky part of the whole thing.

2. Get as close to legal weight as possible. Ideally, balance it just in front of the back tires.

3. Lube is your friend. Make sure the wheels turn really easily- and remember rule 1.
