Building a small table? (some experience with woodworking)?
My fiancee offered to build me a small table for my plants and a footrest for in front of our armchair. He has built actual furniture for our house before from scratch (a freestanding shelving unit for the bathroom and a bookcase, both are sturdy and definitely well made), and he took 3 years of wood shop in high school. So he has some experience.
But what I really want is natural wood furniture (not sure what else to call it?). Basically, a log that is halved, the bark stripped and wood sanded, and then 2 smaller log halves attaches as legs. He seems to think it will be super easy to make them since they are going to be pretty small and only have 3 pieces each, with no specific measurements (a free-form top and 2 legs). But I think it’s going to be difficult, since logs are round, and it will be difficult to fit them together so they are sturdy. He says he sees a way how to get around the curvature of the logs, but I don’t understand it. And he does have access to all the necessary equipment and materials to make them (including a chainsaw). My uncle built my parents a coffee table/end table set as a wedding present 38 years ago in this fashion, which is where I got the idea, and how I know it’s even possible. I’d really love some furniture like this (and more hand made furniture by my love), but I don’t want to ask him to do something that will be incredibly difficult. Does anyone who is more experienced with wood working and building furniture have any opinion on the difficulty level of this project? Any tips are appreciated as well :-)
and yes, I posted a similar question earlier. I got no answers. So I re-posted a shorter one.

There are special tools for building with logs. There are hole cutters, and leg shavers that will machine the wood parts to correct dimensions.
An entire industry of wood working is out there for this kind of project.
I think the greatest difficulty would be getting the actual logs that meets your requirement in terms of treatment and aging.
I would suggest a good double notch and a few heavy screws up from the underside.
should be easy if you say he can build that other stuff just trust him to build this, and as far as the roundness goes that’s really not a problem to connect to round pieces he can most likely do just fine
it is easy
